Viktor Gyokeres getting 'Bukayo Saka treatment' as Arsenal transfer decision speaks volumes

Viktor Gyokeres is primed for a huge impact on Bukayo Saka with Arsenal making an early January transfer decision. The Gunners currently sit top of the Premier League table after successfully navigating a difficult start to the season which included trips to Liverpool and Newcastle United.

With 16 points picked up from a possible 21, Mikel Arteta's side are in a great position and that is certainly reflected by their performances thus far.

Factor in the injury issues Arsenal have been hit with and it becomes even more impressive that they have beaten every opponent in all competitions, minus Liverpool and Manchester City.

Saka returned from his hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw against the latter after missing four weeks of action. The 23-year-old is now on somewhat of a scoring run having found the back of the net against Wales, West Ham United and Olympiacos in the last ten days.

His latest strike came for England and was an exquisite one with his left foot from distance. After the 3-0 friendly win, Saka spoke to reporters about how challenging the last few months have been.

"Obviously I started the season and picked up an injury, which killed me a bit but I’m starting to feel good again," he said in the mixed zone at Wembley Stadium.

"I’m still not at my sharpest, but I’m starting to feel good again and I’ve scored in my last three games, so I’m happy with that and want to continue in that way."

A long-term injury kept Saka out for over three months in the last campaign which meant he was only able to pick up 26 goal contributions in comparison to the 37 managed in the previous season. However, if he stays fully fit for the next seven months, that number could be very high again.

That is because, as per the Daily Mail, it has been noted at Arsenal that Saka would be doubled on regularly but that it is now Gyokeres taking the attention of more than one opponent which is allowing others to have an impact.

Saka will almost certainly be the biggest beneficiary of this with it sure to be a positive even if it means less goal actions for Gyokeres.

Their report has also stated that he would not have been Arsenal's undisputed starting striker if not for Kai Havertz's injury, but the club are full of belief he will get there.

That stance looks set to be officially proven in early 2026 with a big decision needed on Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian has missed the last nine months with a serious knee injury and is still building his way back up to full fitness.

As Gyokeres is now in their attacking ranks alongside Havertz, Arsenal are open to offers in the January transfer window with his contract expiring in the summer of 2027.
