The admission process for undergraduate courses at the University of Delhi is underway. A total of 62,565 seats have been filled in the first round, and the seat allotment list for the second round will be released on July 28. According to a report, a total of 7,790 applications have been received for admission in Delhi University under the Armed Forces quota. Delhi University has released a provisional list of students eligible for admission under the CW (armed forces children and widows) category and has urged all applicants to check their eligibility and preference status on the website.
DU says that those who have to submit their valid Educational Concession Certificate (ECC) and related documents will have to submit them by 11:59 pm on July 28, as this will be the last chance to submit the documents. After this, no additional deadline will be given.
As per the Delhi University policy, 5 per cent seats in graduation courses of all colleges are reserved for children and widows of armed forces and paramilitary forces personnel. Admissions under this quota are done as per the priority system notified by the Ministry of Defence. According to a PTI report, all students will have to provide a valid ECC certificate issued by the competent authority during admission.
These 8 categories are included in the priority system.
Priority 1 includes widows or dependents of defence personnel killed in war.
Priority 2 includes children of personnel disabled during action and those who were discharged from service due to service-related disability.
Priority 3 includes widows or dependents of those killed during military service.
Priority 4 is for children of personnel disabled during service and those who were discharged from the board due to disability during military service.
Priority 5 includes dependents of ex-servicemen or serving personnel, including policemen, who have received Param Vir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Mahavir Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal (Gallantry), and other gallantry awards.
Priority 6 includes children of ex-servicemen.
Priority 7 is for wives of defence personnel who were disabled during war or service, or for ex-servicemen and serving personnel awarded gallantry medals.
Priority 8 and Priority 9 are for dependents and wives of currently serving personnel, respectively.
Seat allocation to begin from third round
According to reports, DU has also announced that seat allocation for CW category candidates will begin from the third round of seat allotment under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). Applicants are advised to regularly visit the Delhi University admission website admission.uod.ac.in for updates and further instructions related to the admission process.
