WWE Backlash 2025: John Cena beat Randy Orton in the main event of WWE Backlash to retain the Undisputed Championship. He, however, did not win clean as he received help from R-Truth. Cena also struck Orton with the title after nailing him with a low blow before getting the three count.
WWE Backlash 2025: John Cena beats Randy OrtonJohn Cena and Randy Orton faced off for the ‘last time in their careers’ at WWE Backlash 2025 as the former defended the Undisputed Championship against ‘The Viper’. The contest proved to be a compelling affair as both men hit each other with their respective finishers. Orton dominated in the initial portions of the match, but Cena kept coming back. The match also saw two referee bumps and a well-received spot where ‘The Legend Killer’ hit GM Nick Aldis and the WWE staff with RKOs. The match also saw the St Louis native put Cena through a table twice.

Orton also tried to deliver a punt kick to Cena in the dying moments of the match. He, however, was interrupted by R-Truth, who requested him to spare his ‘childhood hero’. The 53-year-old veteran received an RKO for his troubles. The distraction, however, was enough to help Cena deliver a low blow to Orton. He then nailed him with the WWE Undisputed Championship and pinned him to retain the title. The finish was similar, though not identical to one seen at WrestleMania 41 where the veteran beat Cody Rhodes to win the title.
What’s next for John Cena?John Cena will appear at Saturday Night’s Main Event later this month. It, however, is not clear if ‘The Franchise Player’ will wrestle at the show. This is Cena's final year as an in-ring performer as he will retire around December.
