Aditya Sarpotdar’s Thamma starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui has hit over Rs 150 crore at the worldwide box office which makes it the third biggest grosser in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) trailing behind Stree 2 and Stree.
This has also led the cinematic universe to hit an unprecedented Rs 1500 crore at the worldwide box office after the release of five films in total — Stree, Bhediya, Munjya, Stree 2 and Thamma.
Stree Universe Becomes 2nd Biggest Cinematic Universe of Indian Cinema; See ListStree released in 2018 and became a big box office super hit. It was followed by Bhediya in 2022 which flopped. However, the next movie in the universe Munjya (2024)was a big sleeper hit.

And then Stree 2 broke almost all records. Now, Thamma has turned out to be an average success after releasing in Diwali 2025.
MHCU or Stree Universe is now the second biggest grossing cinematic universe of Indian cinema beating Ajay Devgn’s Singham Universe or Cop Universe.

4. Lokesh Cinematic Universe aka LCU (3 movies) - Rs 1150 crore
Kaithi (2019): Rs 105 crore, Vikram (2022): Rs 430 crore & Leo (2023): Rs 615 crore.
5. HIT Universe (3 movies) - Rs 174.45 crore
HIT: The First Case (2020): Rs 12.41 crore, HIT: The Second Case (2022): 41.85 crore & HIT: The Third Case (2025): Rs 120 crore.
There are a few more cinematic universes in Indian cinema but most of them are in nascent stage.
