Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan expressed his outrage after Pakistan violated a ceasefire agreement just hours after it was agreed upon on Saturday.
On Saturday, May 10, at around 8 PM, Pakistan launched several drone attacks targeting key regions in India, including Srinagar and Kutch.
This was only three hours after a truce had been announced jointly by India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
The truce was aimed at de-escalating the rising tensions between the two nations, but Pakistan’s actions have raised serious concerns.
Shikhar Dhawan didn’t hold back in his response, taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his anger. He wrote, “Ghatiya desh ne fir apna ghatiyapan poori duniya ke aage dikha diya” (The filthy nation has once again shown its filthiness to the whole world), accusing Pakistan of revealing its true nature once again.
Dhawan’s harsh criticism was echoed by other prominent Indian cricketers. Virender Sehwag shared a sharp Hindi proverb, highlighting Pakistan’s repeated actions as something deeply ingrained and unchangeable. Yuzvendra Chahal and Rahul Tewatia also voiced their disapproval, condemning Pakistan’s duplicity.
This breach has had wider repercussions, even affecting the sporting world. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly paused plans to resume IPL 2025, which was scheduled to end on May 25.
The decision came after a security scare during a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, adding further tension to the situation.
As the situation remains tense, Indian defence forces continue to stay on high alert, with several drone threats successfully neutralised.
