Late-night Hyderabad raid uncovers drug den; Deputy Tahsildar and Bengaluru supplier under lens

In a late-night raid in Hyderabad, police arrested six people in connection with a drug racket, with a deputy tahsildar from Andhra Pradesh now under the scanner for his suspected involvement.

The joint operation was carried out on Sunday night by Cyberabad police and the elite drug enforcement unit, EAGLE, who stormed a service apartment in Kondapur after receiving a tip-off about a planned drug party.

Inside the flat at Rajeshwari Nilayam, officers seized 20 grams of cocaine, eight ecstasy pills, and three grams of MDMA. Six people were arrested on the spot, including men and a woman ranging from their twenties to forties.

The accused were identified as G Teja (28), V Vikram (30), K Bhargav (31), K Purshotham Reddy (36), Manne Neelima (41), Chandan (20), and Rahul alias Sonu. Except for Chandan, all tested positive for narcotic use.

Investigators said Teja, Vikram, and Neelima, old friends from Rajahmundry, had moved to Hyderabad last year and rented the Kondapur apartment specifically to host drug-fuelled parties. They allegedly pooled money from other consumers and transferred payments to accounts linked to Rahul, who is also believed to be a supplier.

During questioning, the accused reportedly admitted that they had earlier consumed cocaine at parties hosted at the Rajahmundry farmhouse of Manideep, a deputy tahsildar. Manideep, described as a close associate of the group, is now being tracked down by police along with the main drug supplier based in Bengaluru.

“We are investigating Manideep’s role and trying to trace the Bengaluru-based supplier Rahul,” an EAGLE officer said.

All six arrested have been booked under the NDPS Act and remanded to judicial custody.

The bust has once again drawn attention to the growing presence of high-end party drugs in Hyderabad, often linked to inter-state networks and well-connected individuals.
