Send Push
Two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra is gearing up for one of the season’s biggest stages — the Diamond League Final 2025 in Zurich. The competition marks the end of the 14-leg Diamond League circuit and will be held at Switzerland’s iconic Letzigrund Stadium over two days starting Wednesday.

This will be Neeraj’s third straight Diamond League Final appearance after Eugene (2023) and Brussels (2024), where he narrowly missed out on the top spot. He will look to reclaim the crown he first won in Zurich back in 2022.

For Neeraj, Zurich is not only about the title but also about preparation. The meet offers the perfect build-up for his world title defence in Tokyo, where the likes of Peters, Weber, Walcott, and Pakistan’s reigning Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem will be waiting as his biggest rivals.

When is Neeraj Chopra’s event?
The men’s javelin throw final, featuring a strong seven-man field, will see Neeraj in action on Thursday, August 28, at 11:15 PM IST, according to Olympics.com.

Where to watch Neeraj Chopra live in action?
Fans in India can follow the Zurich Diamond League Final live on Sports18 TV channel. The event will also be available for streaming on JioCinema, ensuring fans can catch the action on mobile and connected devices.

What’s at stake?
Neeraj enters the final in fine form. He set a national record of 90.23m in Doha earlier this year, finishing second, and went on to win the Paris leg with 88.16m. Overall, he has six competitions under his belt this season, with four wins and two runner-up finishes.

A victory in Zurich would make him a two-time Diamond League champion and provide momentum heading into the World Championships in Tokyo next month.

Who are his challengers?
The javelin field is stacked with world-class talent. Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who beat Neeraj by just one centimetre in Brussels last year, returns as the defending champion. Germany’s Julian Weber, the current world leader with a season-best of 91.06m, is also a top contender.

The line-up also features 2012 Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott (Trinidad & Tobago), former world champion Julius Yego (Kenya), Moldova’s Andrian Mardare, and Switzerland’s Simon Wieland, who enters as the host nation’s representative.
