A businessman from Nerul was allegedly cheated after ordering a laptop of Rs 35,000 from Amazon and receiving a black glass weighing scale instead. Nerul Police have registered a case of cheating against an unidentified person and have begun an investigation into the incident.
The complainant, Pradeep Mehta, a resident of Sector 15, Nerul, had ordered the laptop through the Amazon app on April 29 and made full payment online. According to the case registered, the parcel was delivered to his residence on May 1 at around 8 p.m. While Mehta was in Pune at the time, his wife accepted the delivery by providing the required OTP to the delivery agent.
Shock Discovery Upon Opening Package
However, when Mehta returned and opened the package on May 2, he was shocked to find a glass weight scale instead of the laptop. According to the complaint registered by Mehta, he immediately contacted Amazon via email and their online complaint system but claims he neither received the laptop nor a refund.

“There is a chance that the delivery boy in this case would have done some forgery. We have registered the case against an unidentified person and are investigating the case further,” a police officer from Nerul police station said.
