BBC viewers have just days to binge 'deeply haunting' war drama with 'great cast'

BBC viewers only have a couple of days to binge-watch one of the best recent historical dramas available on iPlayer.

Starring several major names from the world of British TV and film, this stunning Second World War series dramatises several pivotal moments from the conflict.

While battles are fought across Europe, the lives of several ordinary citizens intertwine in surprising ways.

World on Fire’s second series, which features Doctor Who’s Jonah Hauer-King leading the drama as British interpreter Harry Chase, is currently on BBC iPlayer - but not for long.

It’s set to be removed this Wednesday (16th July), giving viewers less than two days to catch up on this acclaimed six-part series.

The drama, created by Peter Bowker, currently has an impressive 84 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating rave reviews from TV critics.

The aggregator’s critical consensus reads: “Though at times more style than substance, World on Fire's layered storytelling never steps on itself, leaving room for its excellent ensemble and gorgeous set-pieces to fill in any narrative gaps.”

A five-star Google review from a fan concurred: “Outstanding gritty realistic..... superbly acted with 3 plots running at the same time.
