World on Fire’s second series, which features Doctor Who’s Jonah Hauer-King leading the drama as British interpreter Harry Chase, is currently on BBC iPlayer - but not for long.
It’s set to be removed this Wednesday (16th July), giving viewers less than two days to catch up on this acclaimed six-part series.
The drama, created by Peter Bowker, currently has an impressive 84 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating rave reviews from TV critics.
The aggregator’s critical consensus reads: “Though at times more style than substance, World on Fire's layered storytelling never steps on itself, leaving room for its excellent ensemble and gorgeous set-pieces to fill in any narrative gaps.”
A five-star Google review from a fan concurred: “Outstanding gritty realistic..... superbly acted with 3 plots running at the same time.
“BBC is the only organization that can make a series like this and it is one of their best.”
Another said: “Engrossing and exciting, World on Fire brings us into the lives of civilians in Britain, Poland, France and Germany during World War Two.
“The compelling central characters experience the cruelties and heroism of life under fascism but from completely fresh angles.
“Eye opening and great acting. Leslie Manville on superlative form.”

Scott Bryan said of the show: “It’s deeply haunting, this first episode is set in 1939 and the lack of knowledge that the characters have about how the war will unfold, in this awful momentous period in history; the anxiety really builds.
"It’s a remarkable form of storytelling; from different sides, different locations, people from different classes, sexualities and at the end of the day what it shows really well is 'war was hell'. It’s absolutely a Must Watch.”
And an audience member on RT posted: “A really engaging storytelling with an excellent execution. The cast was quite interesting.
“I really love the multilanguage aspect of the show. It really shows the world to its viewers.
“This adds a layer of authenticity and realism, especially it shows the story is set in a real culturally diverse environment.”
In addition to Hauer-King and Manville, the second season of World on Fire features an incredible line-up featuring Julia Brown, Blake Harrison, Ewan Mitchell and Mark Bonnar.
With just a matter of hours until the second series is removed, will you be catching up on this riveting historical drama with an evening binge this week?
World on Fire series 2 is available on BBC iPlayer until Wednesday, 16th July.
