United fans were given a reminder of why their pursuit of a goalscorer like Cunha has accelerated. Amorim's side began their tour of Malaysia with a friendly against ASEAN All Stars, but fell to a 1-0 defeat in Kuala Lumpur.
Rasmus Hojlund and Chido Obi were given 45 minutes each in the game, with Joshua Zirkzee not involved after only recently returning from injury. Hojlund and Zirkzee scored just seven league goals between them, while teenager Obi only started his first Premier League match in May.
Speaking after the game, Amorim also took some small positives - including predicting more minutes for young midfielder Sekou Kone. The 19-year-old, who joined from Malian side Guidars last summer, has made Premier League matchday squads on several occasions without making a senior competitive appearance.
"The important thing is no injuries, with this weather and everything that we did to arrive here in this day," Amorim said. "But, again, it's not an excuse. We should perform better.
"We have to control the minutes of everybody. He [Kone] will play more in the next game on Friday. He did quite well but all the young kids tried, that is the most important thing. They want to play more but we have to rotate everybody, so everybody can play. They did well."
