
Emergency services have been scrambled to Heathrow Airport after a flight was forced to make an emergency landing. Police cars and an ambulance have been pictured on the runway at the west London airport after flight UA949, which was travelling to San Francisco, made an emergency landing.
The United Airlines aircraft was near Milton Keynes when it made the U-turn, flight data shows. There are unconfirmed reports that smoke had filled the cabin of the Boeing 777-200. United Airlines and Heathrow Airport are yet to comment on the incident.
