Manchester United's young talent, Kai Rooney, has issued a positive update on his injury recovery through social media, following a heart-wrenching revelation made earlier this year. The eldest son of United legend Wayne Rooney is keen to emulate his father and carve out his own professional football career.
Kai has been performing exceptionally well for United's youth teams in recent months, but suffered an injury setback, leading him to write: 'Life couldn't get any worse.' However, the 16-year-old, who celebrated his birthday earlier this month, has now shared an encouraging update that will be welcomed by United fans.
Sporting his United training kit, Kai posted two hourglass emojis on his Instagram account, suggesting his return to the pitch might not be too far away.
The young forward has kept fans informed about his recovery journey, sharing photos from Dubai on social media, with his foot no longer in a protective boot.
Kai turned heads at the Super Cup NI in Northern Ireland earlier this summer, a tournament where his father also shone as a rising star at Everton.
The United prodigy was making impressive strides through the club's youth ranks, having been selected for United's Under-19s squad and competing against players four years his senior when he was just 15.
Before his senior call-up, he netted a stunning goal for the Under-18s, a left-footed volley that found its way into the top corner, echoing some of his famous father's most memorable strikes.
Kai has been battling injury in recent weeks, but he took a moment to back United academy product Marcus Rashford after the England star scored against Elche in Barcelona's 3-1 victory.
The young striker posted a photo of Rashford celebrating his goal on his own social media platforms.
