Poundland customers have been urged to not eat a snack item amid fears it is not safe for consumption. The popular retailer is recalling its popular Roasted and Salted Cashew Nuts because they have been marked unsafe to eat.

Poundland fears there may be a presence of glass in the snack and as a result has removed the item from its shelves. In an urgent recall notice the high street chain says that any 100g packs marked with the best before date of July 19 2026 could be affected. Those who may have brought this batch are being urged not to eat it and instead return it to a Poundland store.

Its recall notice states that no proof of purchase is required. "We are asking any customers who purchased this product to return it to store for a full refund, no receipt is required", said the retailer.

The affected nuts come in a green bag with a Poundland product code of 934088 and barcode of 5045730461405.

The notice added: "We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. However, the safety and confidence of our customers and the quality of our products is at the heart of everything we do."

It comes as the high street heavyweight prepares to close 13 stores this month. After the company was acquired by investment firm Gordon Brothers, it was confirmed in June that 68 shops would close. The decision puts 1,300 jobs at risk across the country.

Earlier this week Lidl GB recalled its Simply Roasted and Salted Cashews due to concerns about the possible presence of glass in the product.

The FSA said: "If you have bought the above product, do not consume it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For further information, please contact Lidl Customer Care on customer.care@lidl.co.uk or 0203 966 5566."

The recall affects the 125g packets of Simply Roasted and Salted Cashews, with 'best before' date of June 28, 2026.

Customers who bought this product are urged to return it to their nearest store, where they will receive a full refund.
