Renowned actor and politician Kamal Haasan was sworn in as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha on July 25, during the fifth day of the Monsoon Session. Taking oath in Tamil, Kamal marked his official entry into the Parliament’s upper house, having been elected unopposed in June under the DMK-led alliance.

Marking this proud moment, Kamal Haasan’s daughter and actress Shruti Haasan travelled to the national capital to be by his side. She took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute along with photos of the two. In her story, she wrote, “Love you and proud of you Appa. Always.” In a separate post, she added:
“Dearest Appa, today marks the beginning of your journey into a bold new chapter. Seeing you take your Rajya Sabha oath, your powerful voice resonating through the chamber with strength and dignity, is a moment I will always remember.”
She concluded with: “Love always. always, always,” accompanied by folded hands, heart, and bad omen emojis.
Kamal, popularly known for his iconic roles in Tamil cinema, continues his evolving journey from films to active politics. After taking his oath, he greeted Deputy Rajya Sabha Chairman Harivansh in the chamber, signifying the beginning of his new public service chapter.
