Agartala: Tripura CM Manik Saha on Tuesday highlighted a significant decline in crime rates over the past two years while distributing appointment letters to 975 newly recruited police constables.
"In 2024, the crime rate dropped by 19.4% compared to 2023. In just the first four months of 2025, it has already decreased by 10%. Road accidents also saw a decline of 13% in 2024 and 40% so far in 2025," Saha said.
The govt has intensified its crackdown on drug abuse, leading to a 106% increase in narcotics seizures and a 132% rise in the destruction of illegal substances this year.
Saha also emphasised the state's initiatives to support women, including the establishment of women help desks at every police station and enhanced security measures against all forms of crime.
As part of efforts to strengthen law enforcement and ensure public safety, he announced that the state government will soon recruit 916 constables and 218 sub-inspectors into the Tripura Police force.
