From Amritsar to Pathankot: Visuals show Army taking down Pak drones, missiles, terror launch pads

India on Saturday successfully thwarted a series of drone and missile attacks launched by Pakistan across multiple locations. The armed forces responded swiftly to hostile drone incursions, missile strikes, and crossborder fire by Pakistan, targeting civilian areas and military zones along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border.

Pakistan's armed drones were brought down over key locations including Khasa Cantonment in Amritsar and Pathankot, while retaliatory operations, part of Operation Sindoor , struck back at terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

One of the reports of damage came from Kanganiwal village in rural Jalandhar, Punjab, where fragments of a drone were found following a loud explosion. Surjeet Kaur, a local resident, recounted, “A red-coloured flash passed over our house and there was a huge explosion. The water tank above our house exploded. Everything went dark, and we came out only later to see the damage.”

Similar drone sightings and explosions were reported across 26 locations along the International Border and Line of Control, including Jammu, Baramulla, Srinagar, Pathankot, and Bhuj. The ministry of defence confirmed the drones included suspected armed variants, and some targeted civilian areas. In Ferozpur, a Pakistani drone injured members of a local family. Security forces responded swiftly, securing the area and advising residents in border areas to remain indoors.

• Amritsar (Khasa Cantonment): Multiple enemy armed drones spotted and destroyed by air defence units at approximately 5 AM.
• Srinagar (Old Airfield): Drone hovering over the old airfield shot down by the air-defence system; two massive explosions heard near the airport around noon.
• Pathankot: Air Defence System destroyed a drone over Pathankot; the sound of neutralising the drone can be heard in the video.
• Jalandhar (Kanganiwal Village): Parts of a projectile were recovered after a blast; a local resident reported a red-coloured flash and a huge explosion.
• Ranbir Singh Pura (Jammu and Kashmir): Parts of a damaged drone were found in a field; locals reported that the drone was neutralised in the air by Indian forces.
• Barmer (Rajasthan): Fragments and debris of unidentified projectiles were recovered by locals; residents witnessed the aftermath of the Pakistani attack that was successfully neutralised by Indian security forces.
• Sirsa (Haryana): Parts of a projectile were retrieved by security personnel; residents reported an explosion near a local church.

Multiple launch pads destroyed

The armed forces also launched a series of retaliatory strikes targeting Pakistani military infrastructure and launch pads.

According to defence sources cited by ANI, the Army on Saturday destroyed key Pakistani posts and terrorist launch pads near Jammu, which were being used to launch tube-launched drones. These sites were identified as major threats following recent Pakistani drone incursions that targeted military and civilian locations across India.

The Border Security Force (BSF) also confirmed the complete destruction of a terrorist launch pad in Looni, located in Pakistan's Sialkot district opposite the Akhnoor sector. The strike came in response to unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers that began late Friday night. The BSF reported significant damage to enemy assets, asserting its firm resolve to defend the country’s sovereignty.



Army releases footage

The Indian Army released footage of retaliatory strikes targeting Pakistani military infrastructure and terror bases.

"As a response to Pakistan's misadventures of attempted drone strikes on the night of 08 and 09 May 2025 in multiple cities of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab, the #Indian Army conducted a coordinated fire assault on terrorist launchpads, pulverizing & razing them to cinders. The terrorist launchpads, located close to the Line of Control, were a hub for planning and executing terror attacks against Indian civilians and security forces in the past. The Indian Army's swift and decisive action has dealt a significant blow to terrorist infrastructure and capabilities," the Army said in a post on X.


Operation Sindoor, launched earlier in the week, continued with targeted air and ground strikes against nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The Army reiterated that it would continue to respond decisively to Pakistan’s attempts to violate India’s sovereignty.
