"I was scared": LeBron James opened up about how being a young father terrified him in a heartfelt throwback confession

LeBron James has been with his wife, Savannah James, since the two were in their teenage and while they embraced parenthood at a pretty young age, the NBA legend has always tried to be a present father, despite his busy career.

Savannah James became pregnant when she was just 16 years old and LeBron James had not been drafted by the NBA when they found out about the pregnancy. A few years ago, LeBron James opened up about fatherhood and how “scared” he was about it.

Close to three years ago, in December 2022, the 40 year old NBA icon LeBron James shocked fans when he made an appearance in a special Beats by Dre commercial along with his son, Bronny James.

The commercial was about the bond a father shares with a son as LeBron James reflected on his life.


The NBA legend said, “I always knew I would be a great ball player then I had you and I had no idea how I was gonna be as a father.”

The Los Angeles Lakers’ star player added, “I'll be honest, I was scared. But I kept trying. Cause you grew, so did I…”

LeBron James continued, “Patience, commitment, joy things I've learned from basketball. But really, I understood from you.”

The commercial soon went viral as fans were in awe of LeBron James showing his emotional side to the world.

Both LeBron James and his wife, Savannah James, belonged to pretty modest households when the two found out they were expecting Bronny James in their teenage.

However, neither of them gave up on their relationship and fortunately, LeBron James was soon drafted by the NBA and their lives worked out beautifully.

Years later, in 2010, LeBron James tied the knot with his now wife, Savannah James, and today, the two share a beautiful life and three children together.
