NEW DELHI: The Election Commission on Thursday announced that it has finalised the electoral college for the upcoming Vice Presidential election 2025, following the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankar from the post earlier this month.
In a statement, the poll panel said the electoral college list includes all elected and nominated members of the Rajya Sabha as well as elected members of the Lok Sabha, in accordance with constitutional provisions.
The Vice President is chosen by this electoral college, and the final list will be made available for purchase at a designated counter in the election commission’s office starting from the date of notification. The official notification for the election is likely to be issued soon, the commission added.
Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar stepped down on July 21, more than two years before the scheduled end of his tenure, prompting the need for a fresh election.
